Hyundai Bayon Compact SUV To Be Based On New i20 – Rendered

Hyundai has recently released a new teaser image of an all-new compact crossover, which is called the Hyundai Bayon. The new compact crossover is scheduled to be launched in the European market next year. Positioned below the Kona, the upcoming Bayon will measure around 4 meters in length.

The new Hyundai Bayon will be launched in markets where Venue is not on sale. The Hyundai Venue is on sale in Asia and the United States. Details about the new product is yet to be revealed, but it is reported that the new model will be based on the new-gen i20 hatchback platform. The upcoming Hyundai crossover will take on the European-spec Ford EcoSport and the Volkswagen T-Cross measuring 4.10 meters in length.

A new rendering shows the possible design for the upcoming Hyundai Bayon, though the company hasn’t released any information about the styling of the crossover. The vehicle will have Hyundai’s new design language, featuring signature cascading front grille, LED signature headlamps and boomerang-shaped LED tail-lamps. The crossover will have a very wide red line on the trunk lid.

Not just platform, the upcoming compact SUV will also share the engine options with the new-gen i20 hatchback. The SUV is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.2L 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol. While the former offers two states of tunes – 100bhp/172Nm and 120bhp/172Nm, the 1.2L engine is good for 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission choices are likely to include a 5-speed manual with 1.2L engine, a 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DCT with 1.0L engine.
