Hyundai Alcazar 7-Seater Launch Live Updates; Prices, Colors, Mileage, Specs

The long-awaited Hyundai Alcazar has finally been launched in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 16.30 Lakh. It is basically a 3-row SUV based on the modified Creta platform. The SUV is all set to challenge the likes of the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the Mahindra XUV500. Hyundai has already released the engine specifications, seating configurations and key features on offer in the new Alcazar SUV. It comes with two engine options – a 2.0L petrol and a 1.5L diesel with manual and automatic transmissions. It is offered in 6-and 7-seat layout.

12:14 PM : Hyundai Alcazar is available in six monotone color options – Polar White, Phantom Black, Titan Grey, Typhoon Silver, Taiga Brown and Starry Night. The first two colors are comes with an optional contrasting black-colored roof & ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirror).

This variant has all the features accessible in the Platinum & Prestige variants. In terms of features, the SUV gets dual-tone paint scheme, ventilated front seats and front parking sensors.

11:07 AM : The new Hyundai Alcazar comes equipped with voice enabled panoramic sunroof. Adding to it, the SUV comes with segment best Bose premium sound system with 8 speakers, a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, front row seatback table with retractable cup-holder and IT device holder, front row-sliding sunvisor, etc.

11:01 AM : Petrol & Diesel Mileage: Hyundai claims that the Alcazar is the most fuel efficient in its segment. The petrol version of the SUV is claimed to deliver an ARAI certified fuel economy of 14.5kmpl with manual gearbox and 14.2kmpl with automatic gearbox. The diesel version returns a certified mileage of 20.4kmpl in manual avatar and 18.1kmpl with automatic gearbox.

Compared to the Alcazar, the Tata Safari diesel offers a mileage of 16.14kmpl. On the other hand, the Hector Plus diesel and petrol delivers an ARAI certified mileage of 16.56kmpl and 11.67kmpl. However, the Safari and Hector Plus are offered with bigger capacity and significantly more powerful diesel engine.

10:52 AM : The Alcazar offers the segment-largest boot space. With all three rows in place, the 7-seater SUV has a luggage carrying capacity of 180-litres. While the Safari offers a boot space of 73-litres, the MG Hector Plus and the Mahindra XUV500 have 155-litres and 93-litres of boot respectively.

9:43 AM : Hyundai Alcazar Design: It is evident that the Alcazar shares a lot of styling elements from the 5-seater Creta. Body panels like front fenders, bonnet and front doors are similar to the one available with the smaller sibling. However, Hyundai designers have made significant changes to distinguish these two SUVs. It comes with a chrome studded, revised front grille and new bumper design.

The new Alcazar gets newly styled rear quarter glass. It comes with all-new rear profile with new wraparound tail-lights, upright tailgate, faux dual exhaust tips and a faux brushed aluminium skid plate. The SUV also gets a larger 18-inch alloys instead of 17-inchers in 5-seater model. While the Creta has rounded design, the Alcazar gets more flatter roof and rear design.

8:50 AM : The new Hyundai Alcazar is powered by the same 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that powers the Elantra and the Tucson. However, Hyundai engineers have tuned this engine for improved performance and it offers 7PS more power.

The diesel engine is the same that powers the Creta and the Verna. However, Hyundai claims that the engine has been tweaked to offer better power delivery.

8:33 AM : The Hyundai Alcazar is a 3-row SUV based on the Creta’s platform, which rides on segment-largest 2,760mm wheelbase. It is offered in 6-and 7-seat layouts. The six-seater model comes with captain seats in the second-row, while the 7-seater Alcazar has captain seats in the second-row. It gets 60:40 split seat, while the six-seater with captain seats come with one touch tip and tumble seats.

8:28 AM : The new Alcazar will come in 6 trim levels – Prestige, Prestige (O), Platinum, Platinum (O), Signature and Signature (O). The top-spec model is rumoured to be available in select dealerships – called the Hyundai Signature Outlets in metro cities.

8:00 AM : Bookings for the new Alcazar have already been commenced at a token amount of Rs 25,000. Interested buyers can pre-book the SUV via authorised Hyundai dealership or Hyundai’s online sales portal. The SUV will mark Hyundai’s debut in the 7-seater mid-sized segment, which is currently dominated by Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus. Mahindra will also introduce the XUV700 in the third quarter of 2021.

The Hyundai Alcazar is based on the new K2 platform, which also underpins the new Creta and the Kia Seltos. However, the platform has been modified to accommodate a longer wheelbase model and a 3-row SUV. The new model rides on 2,760mm long wheelbase, which is 150mm more than that of the Creta. In fact, the Alcazar has the longest wheelbase in its category. The Tata Safari has a wheelbase of 2,741mm, while the MG Hector Plus rides on 2,750mm of wheelbase.

Not just wheelbase, the Alcazar offers segment-largest boot space. The Hyundai Alcazar offers a boot space of 180-litres, while the Hector Plus has 155-litre boot. On the other hand, the Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV500 offers a luggage carrying capacity of 73-litres and 93-litres respectively. The new model will be offered in 6-and 7-seat layouts. Hyundai has also revealed that the new Alcazar will come in two engine options – a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel. The 1999cc MPi engine produces 159PS and 191Nm of torque, while the turbocharged engine is good for 115PS and 250Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The diesel engine is the same unit that powers the Creta; however, Hyundai claims that the engine has been tuned for improved performance.

The Alcazar has 3 driving modes – Comfort, Eco & Sport, and three traction control modes – Snow, Sand and Mud. Other features confirmed by Hyundai includes 64 colours ambient lighting, 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, voice enabled smart panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch MID, Bose premium sound system with 8 speakers, air purifier with AQI display, etc.
