Hyundai Alcazar CNG Under Development? – Spy Image Suggests So

Recently, a test mule of the Hyundai Alcazar was caught on camera with a camouflage on its rear section. The model seems to carry an emission testing device at the back hinting it could be the CNG kit. As the market is witnessing a growing demand for the CNG models, several car manufacturers are preparing to grab the opportunity. It would not come as a surprise, if Hyundai is planning to bring in a CNG version of the Alcazar SUV. We have already reported that the South Korean carmaker is working on the Hyundai Venue CNG, which might hit roads in coming months.

At present, the Hyundai Alcazar is available with a 2.0L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engines. The gasoline unit pushes out a peak power of 159bhp and 192Nm of torque and the oil burner makes 115bhp with 250Nm. The Alcazar CNG variant will come with the 2.0L petrol engine coupled to a factory-fitted CNG kit. Its power figures could be slightly lower than the standard petrol unit.

The SUV’s regular petrol model offers fuel efficiency of 14.5kmpl and 14.2kmpl with manual and automatic gearbox respectively. Mileage of the Hyundai Alcazar CNG will surely be higher than its petrol counterparts. The factory-fitted CNG kit could be offered only on the range-topping trim. The SUV’s Signature trim comes with some exclusive features such as front parking sensors, ventilated front seats, side foot steps, traction control modes, drive modes, paddle shifters and dual-tone colours (optional).

If reports are to be believed, the Hyundai Alcazar CNG model might hit showrooms sometime this year. Its prices are expected to be slightly higher than its petrol counterparts. Currently, the Signature petrol variants are available within the price range of Rs 18.74 lakh – Rs 20 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
