Honda’s Creta Rival To Debut In Coming Months – All Key Details

Honda Cars India recently released the first teaser image of its upcoming mid-size SUV that will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta. The model will also go up against the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. The carmaker has confirmed that the new Honda SUV will make its debut by summer 2023 (possibly around in April – May). The production-ready version of Honda’s Creta rival is expected to witness a market launch during 2023 festive season.

The teaser shows the upright stance along with the front a multi-slat grille featuring the signature badge, wide wraparound headlamps with LED DRL and raised bonnet. The model seems to have a coupe-like roofline and sporty cladding on the wheel arches with large tyres. The SUV might share some of its design elements with the new Honda HR-V that’s on sale in select global markets. The HR-V has a wide lower bumper with mesh in the centre, more angular grille with hexagonal pattern, vertical air inlets and a longer bonnet.

The new Honda SUV, however, will have different body panels. It’s expected to measure around 4.2-4.3 metres in length. The mid-size SUV will be designed on the modified version of the Amaze’s platform. Features such as a 10.2-inch digital driver display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) could be on offer.

Engine details of the Honda’s Creta rival are still under the wraps. It’s expected to be offered with the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L strong hybrid powertrain options. Both units will be carried forward from the new City sedan. While the former makes 121bhp with 145Nm, the latter one is good enough for 109bhp and 253Nm. Transmission choices might include a 5-speed manual, a CVT automatic and an e-drive (only with the strong hybrid variants).
