New-Generation Innova
The Japanese automaker has been working on the new-generation Innova Crysta that’s reported to hit Indian roads in 2023. Though, the new model will make its global debut towards the end of this year. Codenamed B560, the 2023 Toyota Innova Crysta could underpin the brand’s low-cost DNGA (Daihatsu New Generation Architecture) platform or FWD DNGA modular platform.
Compared to the current generation, the new one is expected to be slightly shorter. The new Innova Crysta is likely to be based on the Toyota Avanza that’s already on sale in Thailand and Indonesia. Though, a few cosmetic changes will be made to the India-spec model.
The automaker has already confirmed that the 2023 Toyota Innova Crysta will be introduced with hybrid powertrains in the Indonesian market. The MPV might come with the same powertrain in India as well. At present, it’s available with the 148bhp, 2.4L turbo diesel and 164bhp, 2.7L naturally aspirated petrol engine options. Transmission duties are done by a 5-speed manual and a 6-peed torque convertor automatic unit.
