Honda NX200 Adventure Bike Launch in August; Based On Hornet 2.0

Honda 2Wheelers is reported to launch a new motorcycle next month (August 2021). While the company hasn’t yet revealed the name and details of the upcoming model, it’s likely to be an adventure bike based on the Honda Hornet 2.0. The production-ready model could be named ‘Honda NX200’ as the bikemaker trademarked the nameplate in April 2021. The upcoming new Honda adventure bike will sit above the Hornet 2.0 and is estimated to cost around Rs 15,000 premium over its naked sibling. At present, the Hornet 2.0 is available at Rs 1.31 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Honda NX200 design and styling could be inspired by the Honda CX-02 concept and Honda CBF190TR that’s retailed in the Chinese market. That means, the upcoming Honda adventure bike might carry sporty design language and touring focused ergonomics. The model is likely to share its platform and engine with the Honda Hornet 2.0. It sits on a new diamond frame chassis and comes with the 184.4cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled fuel injected motor.

Honda’s programmed fuel injection (PGM-FI) with Honda Eco Technology (HET) helps improve fuel economy of the vehicle. The PGM-FI consists of 8 on-board sensors that constantly inject optimum fuel and air mixture to the engine. The petrol unit makes a top power of 17.2bhp at 8,200rpm and 16.1Nm of torque at 6,000rpm.

Similar to its naked sibling, the upcoming Honda NX200 might be assembled with the 17-inch alloy wheels along with the fat 110mm front and 140mm rear tyres. The braking mechanism might also be carried forward from the Hornet 2.0 that uses the 276mm front petal disc and 220mm petal rear disc brakes with single channel ABS (anti-lock braking system). The naked bike features USD fork upfront and an adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear.

More details on the upcoming Honda adventure bike are likely to be revealed in coming weeks. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
