Honda City Hybrid India Launch In February 2022 – Report

Honda City Hybrid is reported to hit Indian roads in February 2022. It will be the first hybrid vehicle from the Japanese automaker in the country. The company is likely to introduce the standard and sportier RS versions of the sedan with hybrid powertrain. The model will have a 1.5-litre Atkison-cylce petrol engine with an electric motor producing power worth 98bhp with 127Nm and 109bhp with 253Nm respectively. The City Hybrid can be drive on pure EV mode, petrol engine only and a combination of both. If reports are to be believed, the Honda City Hybrid will offer fuel economy of over 27kmpl. This will make it the most frugal car in the Indian market. One must note that its Thai-spec and Malaysia-spec versions return claimed mileage of 27.8kmpl and 27.7kmpl respectively. In real world condition, it might deliver around 20kmpl.

New City Hybrid India

The Hybrid City is said to be 0.5 seconds faster ad 110kg heavier than the standard model. Compared to the regular City, the hybrid version offers around 100-litres lesser boot space. It has a cargo volume of 410-litres. The City Hybrid comes equipped with the electric parking brake and rear disc brakes. Advanced goodies such as ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), remote engine start and radar based safety systems are offered on the global-spec Honda City RS. As of now, there is no clarity whether the India-spec Honda City Hybrid will come with these aforementioned features or not.

Most of the components of the India-spec Hybrid City will be imported and then assembled at the company’s local production facility. Here, it’s expected to cost between Rs 15 lakh (for the entry-level variant) – Rs 18 lakh (for the fully-loaded trim). More details on the new City Hybrid are likely to be revealed in coming months.
