New Honda SUV (Creta Rival) Confirmed; Coming On November 11, 2021

We reported earlier that Honda will introduce a new compact SUV at the 2021 GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show). The company will present the concept version of the SUV on November 11, 2021. The concept model is likely to be called the Honda N5X, while the production-ready model is expected to be called the Honda ZR-V.

The company has already registered the Honda ZR-V name, which could be used to name the upcoming compact SUV. It is expected that the new compact SUV will be based on the new front-wheel-drive platform that underpins the new BR-V 7-seater. This platform is designed to offer toughness of an SUV and the comfort of the MPV.

Honda had showcased the N7X concept, which previewed the brand’s new 7-seater SUV, called the new BR-V. Similarly, the new compact SUV is likely to be unveiled as the N5X concept. The company could showcase the concept model to public before introducing the final production model in 2022.

Honda has also released a new teaser of the new compact SUV, which shows the side profile. The new crossover is likely to share many parts such asĀ  A-pillar, dashboard, hood and doors with the 7-seater model. The teaser shows LED headlamps, floating roofline with prominent roof-rails, strong belt-line, roof-integrated spoiler, wrap-around tail-lights with connected car, etc.

The SUV features a well-sculpted bonnet, a signature front design, flared wheel arches and LED headlamps with LED light signatures. The vehicle looks like a compact version of the BR-V; however, it has more coupe-like profile. It is expected to measure around 4.2 meters in length, which makes it a rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta.

The SUV is expected to share the interior and features with the new BR-V SUV. It is likely to be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a CVT automatic gearbox. The company could also use the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.

Honda Plans For India

Japanese automaker has confirmed that the company is developing a new SUV for the Indian market. The new model is likely to be based on the new City platform and will measure close to 4.2 or 4.3 meters. It will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the VW Taigun.

The new SUV could also get a long wheelbase version with 7-seat option. This model will rival the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and the MG Hector. It is likely to be offered with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options.
