Japanese two-wheeler maker, Honda has recently launched the Hornet 2.0 naked streetfighter in the Indian two-wheeler market. The Hornet 2.0 is basically the revised version of the Honda CBF190R, which is on sale in the Chinese market. Honda has also announced to further expand its portfolio to increase market share.
A new motorcycle could join the Hornet 2.0 motorcycle in India. Honda is already selling the CBF190TR in the Chinese market. It is neo-retro motorcycle, which is based on the same platform as the CBF190R and the Hornet 2.0.
The Honda CBF190TR shares design cues from the bigger Honda Neo Sports Cafe motorcycles such as the CB1000R Plus and the CB300R. The motorcycle could adopt a different nomenclature for the Indian market. Honda could also use the Hornet name with a suffix to differentiate the Neo-Retro bike and the naked streetfighter. The Honda CBF190TR is powered by the same 184cc HET BS6 PGM-FI engine that powers the naked sibling. This engine is capable of producing 17bhp of power at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 16.1Nm at 6,000rpm. The Hornet 2.0 accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 11.25 seconds. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 5-speed gearbox. Similar to the Hornet 2.0, the Cafe racer could receive dual disc brakes and single-channel ABS system.
This motorcycle could open up a new segment in India. Yamaha could also bring the XSR155 cafe racer, which is based on the MT15 platform. The new CBF190TR is likely to be positioned above the Hornet 2.0. It is expected to be priced around Rs 1.35 lakh.
