A total of 9,95,097 units of two-wheelers were sold in April 2021. The industry witnessed a monthly sales decline of 33.5% as opposed to 14,96,754 units of March 2021. While Hero MotoCorp retained the top spot with sales of 3,42,614 units, Honda (2,40,122 units), TVS (1,31,386 units), Bajaj (1,26,570 units) and Suzuki (63,879 units) stood at number 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively.
Talking about the bikes, the Hero Splendor was the top-selling motorcycle in the month of April. The home-grown two-wheeler maker managed to sell 1,61,567 units of the Splendor against 2,39,702 units of March. The commuter motorcycle registered de-growth of 3%.

The Honda CB Shine and Hero HF Deluxe grabbed the second and third spots with total sales of 79,416 units and 71,294 units respectively. Bajaj Auto retailed 35,891 units of the Pulsar 125cc motorcycle and 35,467 units of the Platina. While the former marked a monthly sales decline of 14%, the latter recorded de-growth of 49%.
The Honda Activa continued to dominate the scooter segment in the country. The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer sold 1,09,678 units of the Activa, registering a decline of 45%. The Suzuki Access was the second top-selling scooter with sales of 53,285 units and the TVS Jupiter stood at third position with sales of 25,570 units.

TVS Motor Company sold 19,959 units of the NTorq scooter that grabbed the fourth position in the list of India’s top-selling scooters. Hero Pleasure recorded total sales of 18,298 units against 28,516 units of March 2021.
In the next couple of years, we will witness several new bike and scooter launches from different two-wheeler manufacturers. The list includes the new-generation Royal Enfield Classic 350, Bajaj Pulsar 250, Suzuki Intruder 250, Husqvarna 401, Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser, KTM 490cc, Yamaha FX-Z Adventure bike, Hero 300cc bike, TVS Zeppelin and Bajaj-Triumph bike (possibly 200cc model).
