Citroen C3 Engines’ Power Figures Out; More Than Kiger, Magnite

The made-in-India Citroen C3 premium hatchback is ready to hit showrooms by mid June 2022. Ahead of its official arrival, select dealers have started taking pre-bookings for the vehicle at a token sum of Rs 21,000. While its official specifications are yet to be revealed, the C3 is reported to come with the 1.2L naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines. The former will deliver a peak power of 81PS and the latter will make 110PS. There will two gearbox options – manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (reserved for the turbo petrol variants). The Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite, which are available with the 72PS, 1.0L NA and 100PS, 1.0L turbo petrol engines, are less powerful than Citroen’s new hatchback. When compared to the other premium hatchback including Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20, the C3 is slightly less powerful. Maruti’s Baleno comes with the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine that’s good for 90PS. The Hyundai i20 has been offered with the 1.2L naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol, which make power worth 83PS and 110PS respectively.

Citroen C3 Interior Revealed

Based on the CMP modular platform, the Citroen C3 offers features such as a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, a flat bottom steering with mounted controls, dashboard with textured panel, multiple airbags and more. Some of its key design highlights include split LED headlamp cluster, double-slat grille, pronounced wheel arches and black cladding all around the body.

The new Citroen C3 is expected to be priced aggressively, thanks to its over 90 percent localization. With affordable pricing, the new Citroen hatchback will take on multiple models right from Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 to Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Tata Punch and Maruti Ignis. In fact, its take on the lower variants of the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. We expect it to cost from Rs 5.50 lakh for the base variant (ex-showroom).
