PSA Group is ready to start its Indian operations with the launch of Citroen C5 Aircross SUV in the first quarter of 2020. The French carmaker has already confirmed that its second model will be a sub-4-metre SUV that will challenge multiple cars including Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Magnite. The upcoming Citroen compact SUV (codenamed Citroen C21) will hit roads in the second half of 2021. Its testing has already been commenced in the country.

Recently, a digital rendering emerged on the web previewing the production-ready version of the C21 subcompact SUV based on its fresh spy pictures. The rendered model features the brand’s signature design language along with the split LED headlamps and LED DRLs connected via chrome strips. The fog lamps with chrome surroundings are integrated on the front bumper. It also features a black radiator grille and pronounced bonnet.

The side profile is adored by pronounced wheel aches shod with alloy wheels, black ORVMs with a chrome strip and white roof with black roof rails. The black cladding all around the body further enhances its sporty looks. The Citroen C21 compact SUV will be designed on the brand’s CMP platform that also underpins the global-spec Citroen C3.

Engine details of the new Citroen compact SUV are still under the wraps. Though, it’s reported to come with both petrol and diesel motor options. While the petrol version might use a 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbocharged unit delivering power close to 130bhp, the diesel model is likely to feature a 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbocharged mill.

After the C21 subcompact SUV, the French carmaker will bring in an electric micro SUV to compete with the upcoming Tata HBX. Designed and developed for emerging markets, the small electric SUV (codenamed – Citroen CC21) could be offered with a 30kWh battery pack.
