Chinese automaker, BYD (Build Your Dreams) has officially announced to launch the new BYD Atto 3 electric SUV in the country on October 11, 2022. The company has recently introduced the e6 electric MPV for the private buyers in the country. Deliveries for the new Atto 3 electric SUV is expected to be commenced in early 2023. Set to rival the MG ZS EV, the new BYD Atto 3 e-SUV is likely to be priced around Rs 30 lakh – Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
In terms of proportions, the new BYD Atto 3 is 4,455mm long, 1,875mm wide and 1,615mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,720mm. It is the longest model in its category, as the MG ZS EV measures 4,323mm in length. The Atto 3 weigs 1,750kg and has a boot space of 440-litres. The SUV offers a ground clearance of 175mm.
It is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that produces 201bhp and 310Nm of torque. The electric motor sends power to the front wheels only and it also comes with regenerative braking technology. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 7.3 seconds.
BYD is likely to launch the new Atto 3 electric SUV with two battery pack options. It has a 49.92kWh battery pack that is claimed to offer a WLTP-certified range of 345km. The long range version features a larger 60.48kWh battery pack that is claimed to offer a WLTP-certified range of 420km on a single charge. The new BYD electric SUV will be available with three charging options – the standard 3-pin plug AC charger, AC charging (Type 2), and DC fast charging (Standard – 70kW, Extended – 80kW).
The new BYD Atto 3 electric SUV will come equipped with features like all-LED lighting system, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, heated ORVMs, powered front seats, wireless phone charging system, automatic AC, and leatherette upholstery. It will be equipped with a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system and a 5-inch digital instrument console. For safety and security, the new electric SUV gets a 360 degree camera, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, front & rear collision warning and lane keep assist.
