Audi India has announced that it will launch the Q2 compact SUV on 16th October, 2020. Official prices will be announced via virtual launch event. Audi Q2 will be the most affordable SUV from the German carmaker in the country. It will be put up against the cars like Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X1.
The compact SUV model lineup will be spread across five trims – Standard, Premium, Premium Plus 1, Premium Plus 2 and Technology. All variants will come with a 187bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol engine.
For performing transmission duties, the new Audi compact SUV will have a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The Q2 can achieve 0-100kmph in 6.5 seconds, while maintaining a top speed of 228kmph. Audi’s Quattro AWD (all-wheel-drive) system will be standard across the lineup. The Q2 underpins the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform that has already been used in the Volkswagen T-Roc and Skoda Karoq.
Measuring 4190mm in length, 1749mm in width and 1508mm in height, the Audi Q2 will be the smallest SUV from the German carmaker. As per the leaked information, the LED front lights, 17-inch multi spoke design alloys, LED rear combination lamps with dynamic turn signal, power adjustable exterior mirrors with heated and power folding functions, aluminium scuff plates, Audi music interface with 4 speakers, interior light package, driver info display in colour, fabric seat upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, foldable rear seat bench, Audi parking system and MMI radio plus will come as standard fitments.
The Q2 carries the signature design language with elements such as a large, single-frame grille, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a long roof edge spoiler, a wide tailgate, low roof merging into the C-pillars with colour offset blades, square-ish taillamps and a diffuser with an underbody protection look. The black cladding across the bumpers, wheel arches and running boards further enhance its muscular appearance.
