All Variants of Tata Punch To Get Digital Cluster – Exter Effect?

Following the success of the Nexon subcompact SUV, the Tata Punch has emerged as the second-best-selling SUV from the indigenous automaker in India. Competing in the micro SUV segment against the Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Hyundai Exter, Tata Motors has elevated its game by equipping all variants of the Punch with a digital instrument cluster.

Recent sightings of the lower variants revealed a 4-inch digital screen, presenting information such as the trip meter, odometer, speed time, warning lights, and more. Interestingly, the Punch’s top variant, known as Creative, retains a distinctive 7.0-inch part-digital instrument cluster.

The incorporation of the digital instrument cluster as a standard feature is expected to have a marginal impact on pricing, although details regarding a potential price adjustment remain pending. This enhancement positions the Tata Punch to pose a formidable challenge to the Hyundai Exter, which already boasts a 4.2-inch MID digital instrument cluster as standard. The Hyundai micro SUV is currently available in the price range of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10.15 lakh, directly aligning with the Punch priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Punch EV Launching Soon

In other noteworthy updates, Tata Motors is gearing up to introduce the electric version of the Punch in the coming months. The electric micro SUV is anticipated to feature a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system, potentially reserved for higher trims, while lower and mid-level variants are expected to retain the 10.25-inch unit. Mirroring its internal combustion engine counterpart, the Tata Punch.ev is set to include a sunroof in select variants, potentially establishing itself as the most affordable EV with this feature in the country.

Under the hood, the Tata Punch EV will boast the brand’s Ziptron powertrain, featuring a charging socket strategically placed on the front bumper. The electric model will be built on Tata’s Gen-2 EV platform, a heavily modified version of the Alfa architecture, introducing specific design changes tailored for the electric variant. This strategic move further solidifies Tata Motors’ commitment to advancing its electric vehicle offerings in the Indian market.
