Tata Punch.ev To Get Medium & Long Range Variants Like Nexon.ev?

Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the electric version of the Punch micro SUV by the end of 2023. Test mules of the electric Punch have been spotted several times, giving us a glimpse of its intriguing design and interior details. Although the carmaker has yet to officially reveal the powertrain specifications, it is expected to offer two battery pack options, possibly borrowed from the Tiago.ev or Nexon.ev. The Tata Punch.ev is anticipated to offer a range of approximately 200km to 300km on a single charge.

There’s a possibility that the Punch.ev will be available in two variants: Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR), similar to the updated Nexon.ev. The higher trim will feature the Long Range battery pack, along with exclusive features such as a circular display integrated gear selector dial, a two-spoke steering wheel, an armrest, an electronic parking brake, and rear disc brakes.

A larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system will be reserved for the higher trims, while mid-level variants may come with a 10.25-inch unit. Remarkably, the Tata Punch.ev might become the most affordable electric car in the country to offer a sunroof, following the recent introduction of a sunroof in select variants of the ICE-powered Punch. The Punch.ev will also undergo minor EV-specific changes, including a distinct front grille, LED headlamp clusters, and a front bumper integrated with a charging socket. It will feature uniquely styled alloy wheels compared to the regular model, while its dimensions will remain unchanged.

Taking on competitors like the Citroen eC3, the Tata Punch.ev is expected to be priced around Rs 10 lakh for the base variant, with the fully-loaded variant likely to cost between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 12.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata’s new electric micro SUV will also face competition from the Hyundai Exter EV, which is currently in its initial testing phase.
