The fourth-generation Nissan X-Trail SUV was recently spotted in India. The model was first previewed at the 2021 Auto Shanghai and it’s already on sale in select global markets. As of now, there is no official word on its India launch. Though, Nissan Motor India is ready to make a big announcement on 18th October 2022 at an event in Delhi. Rumour has it that the company might unveil the new Nissan X Trail for the Indian market.

Globally, the X-Trail has been offered with petrol and hybrid powertrain options – a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol with the second-generation e-Power series hybrid tech. The SUV comes with three driving modes – Snow, Mud and Gravel.

Nissan X-Trail India Launch

In the US market, the Nissan Rouge (X-Trail) underpins the heavily updated version of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s CMF-C crossover platform. It’s the same architecture that used by the Qashqai. In terms of design, the Nissan X-Trail SUV features the signature angular grille flaked by LED headlamps with LED DRLs. The flared rear wheel arches and slim wraparound taillamps further enhance its sporty looks.

If launched in India, the Nissan X-Trail will go head-to-head against the cars likely Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector and Tata Safari. It might hit showrooms sometime next year. The SUV is estimated to be priced around Rs 22.60 lakh (ex-showroom). If reports are to be believed, the carmaker might introduce it with 5 and 7-seats configuration options.
