In early June 2023, Volkswagen introduced the new GT Plus 1.5L TSI manual variant at Rs 16.89 lakh. Within a month, the carmaker has further expanded the sedan model lineup with a new ‘GT DSG’ trim for the Performance Line variants. It is the most affordable 1.5L TSI variant that has been priced at Rs 16.19 lakh (ex-showroom). When compared to the GT Plus 1.5 manual variant that costs Rs 16.90 lakh, the new Volkswagen Virtus GT DSG is nearly Rs 2.38 lakh more affordable.
What it misses out?
The lower price if the Virtus GT DSG comes with the removal of certain features and design elements. Some of the features not includes in this new variant are the digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, auto dimming rear view mirror, full leatherette upholstery, height adjustable co-driver’s seat, automatic headlamps, front side and curtain airbags, rain sensing wipers and sunroof. One must note that all aforementioned features are offered only on the top-end GT Plus trim.
What’s on offer?
The sedan’s new variant does come with several notable features. It includes a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless phone charging, rear AC vents, keyless entry and go, cruise control, ambient lighting, paddle shifters, rear view camera, etc.
On the exterior, the new Volkswagen Virtus GT DSG variant has blacked out alloy wheels in place of the regular silver finish units. It also sports chrome lining on the front grille, LED turn indicators and window line.
Same engine and gearbox
Similar to the regular Performance Line variants, the new GT DSG trim derives power from a 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine. The motor comes with both 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox options. The gasoline unit, booted with active cylinder deactivation technology, returns a claimed power of 150bhp and 250Nm of torque.
