7-Seater Maruti Grand Vitara Launch In 2025 – More Details Out

In order to further strengthen its position, Maruti Suzuki is now preparing to launch 3 new SUVs for the Indian market. The company will introduce a new electric SUV, which will be based on eVX concept in 2024. MSIL is also preparing a new 7-seater SUV, internally codenamed Y17. Scheduled to be launched in 2025, the new 7-seater Maruti SUV will be positioned against the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV700.

The 7-seater Maruti SUV will be based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the Grand Vitara and the Brezza. It is most likely to be the 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara. Maruti Suzuki is following Hyundai strategy, which is selling the Creta and the 7-seater Alcazar on the same platform. The new 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara is most likely to be offered with petrol and strong hybrid engines. Expected to be priced somewhere between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, the new 7-seater Maruti SUV will be manufactured at the brand’s upcoming Kharkhoda plant.

7-Seater Maruti Grand Vitara Features

Not just the 7-seater SUV, MSIL is working on an all-new entry-level SUV, codenamed Y43. This small SUV will rival the Hyundai Exter and the Tata Punch. Maruti Suzuki believes that the 7-seater SUV and the entry-level SUV will help the brand to generate additional volume of 2.5 lakh per annum.

Maruti Suzuki is most likely to showcase the 7-seater SUV at the 2025 Auto Expo. The launch is expected in mid next year. The SUV is likely to be powered by a 1.5L K15C petrol engine with a mild hybrid tech. Both manual and torque convertor automatic gearbox options will be on offer. Adding to it, the SUV could also receive Toyota’s 1.5L 3-cylinder strong hybrid engine with higher fuel efficiency. We believe that MSIL could also source a bigger 2.0L strong hybrid tech from the new Innova Hycross and the Invicto.

Maruti Suzuki is also planning to launch a smaller 3-row MPV based on the Suzuki Spacia, which is on sale in Japan. Set to rival the Renault Triber, the new entry-level UV is expected to be launched sometime in 2026. Adding to it, MSIL is also developing a new electric hatchback for the Indian market. To be based on the new skateboard architecture, the new EV will rival the Tata Tiago EV.
