The first half of 2022 holds lots of excitement for the auto enthusiasts as multiple new SUVs are ready to hit roads. Here’s a brief on the upcoming new SUVs, which are scheduled to arrive in early 2022.
New-Gen Maruti Vitara Brezza
The second-generation Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is surely one of the major car launches of the next year. The model will come with improved design and more features along with the new Heartect platform. Speculations are on rife that the automaker will introduce the new 2022 Maruti Vitara Brezza with the 1.5L K15B petrol engine paired to a stronger 48V hybrid system. The SUV might also receive CNG variant with manual gearbox. The model lineup will also be available with a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission.
New-Gen Mahindra Scorpio
Mahindra’s highly popular Scorpio SUV will enter into its next generation in early 2022. Compared to the current generation, the new one will be bigger, more spacious and feature-rich. It will be built on the new ladder-on-frame chassis and carry more rugged design elements. Its 7-seater version will come with the forward facing third-row seats. In terms of engines, the new Mahindra Scorpio will offer a 2.0L mHawk turbo diesel (155bhp/360Nm) and a 2.0L turbo petrol motor (150bhp300Nm). Both manual and automatic gearboxes and RWD and AWD systems will be on offer.
Citroen C3
The French automaker has already confirmed that the Citroen C3 small car will see a release in early 2022. It’s essentially a hatchback with crossover-ish design elements. The model has been built on the heavily localized CMP modular platform that’s designed especially for emerging markets like India. It measures 3.89 meters in length and comes in four colour options – Platinum Grey, Zesty Orange, Ice White and Artense Grey. The hatchback will be made available with three engines – 1.2L naturally aspirated, 1.2 turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel.
Kia Compact MPV
Kia KY (codename), the upcoming compact SUV from the South Korean automaker, is ready to arrive in early 2022. The model will share its platform with the Seltos and have 7-seats configuration. While most of its design bits will be similar to the Seltos, it will feature extended front and rear overhangs and more prominent rear quarter glass area. It could be the first vehicle in its segment to offer access to the third row seat via an electric button. Engine setup of the new Kia MPV will be borrowed from the Seltos – i.e. 1.5L turbo diesel and 2.0L petrol.
Hyundai Compact MPV
If reports are to be believed, the South Korean automaker might bring in the Hyundai Stargazer compact MPV in early 2022. The model will be first launched in the Indonesian market, followed by India and other countries. The new Hyundai MPV will be offered with the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), Hyundai SmartSense feature and an electric sunroof. Compared to the Creta, the MPV will be longer measuring around 4.5 meters in length. In India, the Stargazer could be offered with the 1.5L turbo diesel engine and 6-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox options. The oil burner makes a top power of 113bhp and 250Nm of torque.
Jeep Meridian
The American SUV manufacturer is all set to launch the new Jeep Meridian 7-seater SUV in India early next year. The test mule of the SUV was recently caught testing in the country. It’s essentially the Brazil-spec Jeep Commander that will come to India with minor cosmetic and feature changes. Design and styling of the new Jeep 3-row SUV is heavily inspired by the Compass. Though, it’s 346mm longer, 41mm wider and 42mm taller than its 5-seater sibling. It will be offered with 6 and 7-seats layouts. Under the hood, the Meridian will feature the 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that’s good for 173bhp and 350Nm. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
