The Citroen C3 hatchback was recently unveiled in its production avatar for the Indian market. It will be the brand’s first model to be designed under its C-cubed programme and developed with over 90% locally sourced components. The model has been especially designed for emerging markets including India and South America. Unlike the Europe-spec C3 that underpins the PSAs PF1 platform, the Made-in-India will be based on the CMP (Common Modular Platform) architecture. It’s essentially the modified and cost effective version of the PF1 platform.
In terms of pricing, the upcoming Citroen C3 hatchback is expected to be priced competitively. The major reason behind affordable pricing will be the high-level of localization, cost-effective platform and feature alteration. The unveiled model was equipped with the manually operated ORVM and manual AC unit along with the several optional design elements and interior features.
Here, the new Citroen hatchback will be positioned against the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the upcoming Tata Punch. It might also take away buyers of the cars Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. Besides the platform, the India-bound Citroen C3 looks different from its European version. The former carries upright stance with SUV-ish elements such as high ground clearance, raised bonnet line, elevated driving position and short overhangs. Some of its other key highlights include split LED headlamps with LED DRLs, the signature grille, heavy black cladding all around the body, dual-tone diamond cut alloys, blacked out pillars and roof rails, dual-tone rear bumper and rectangular taillamps.
For connectivity purpose, the hatchback offers a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It also gets a digital instrument cluster and a single-piece front seat with integrated headrests. The seat fabrics and colours of the dashboard panel are customizable. The hatchback will come with three engine options – a 1.2L naturally aspirated, a 1.2L turbo petrol and a 1.5L diesel.
