6 Features of MG Astor Not Available On Hyundai Creta

Astor, the new mid-size SUV from the British carmaker, is ready to hit showrooms next month (September 2021). It will be placed against the cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun. The Astor will be the brand’s first production model to be based on the Concept of Car-as-a-Platform (CAAP). Recently, the company revealed some of its segment-first and key features, which are not offered on its arch rival – Hyundai Creta. Here’re details.

Personal AI Assistant

In MG’s global product portfolio, the Astor will be first vehicle to feature a personal AI (Artificial Intelligence) assistant system. Designed by the US-based ‘Star Design’, the AI system is like an interactive robot powered by the i-Smart Hub. The carmaker says that it can depict human-like emotions and voices and provide detailed information on any topic via Wikipedia. It’s integrated into the car’s infotainment system for voice enabled features. The personal AI system can be activated by “Hello Astor” voice command and it understands ‘Hinglish’ language.

Level 2 Autonomous Tech

The MG Astor will be the first vehicle in its segment to offer Level 2 autonomous technology powered by mid-range radars and multi-purpose camera. It offers a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) including Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC), Rear Drive Assist (RDA), Speed Assist System and more.

Multiple In-Car Services

The new MG SUV comes with host of subscriptions and services including maps and navigation with MapMyIndia and Jio connectivity. It’s said to have the first-of-its-kind Blockchain-protected vehicle digital passport by KoineArth and more. The SUV will also provide access to music on the JioSaavn app along with the industry-first feature of reserving a parking slot through a head unit (powered by Park+ – select cities to begin with) in the car.

360 Degree Camera

Unlike the Hyundai Creta, the upcoming MG Astor offers a 360 degree camera that works as rear view driving monitor and blind spot monitor.

Digital Instrument Cluster

While the Hyundai Creta comes with a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, the Astor has a fully digital unit displaying features including blind spot monitoring and more.

3 Interior Themes

The British carmaker has confirmed that the Astor will be offered in three interior theme options. Though, it revealed the dual-tone Sangria Red theme only.
