Tata Motors has rolled out the 5,00,000th unit of the Nexon subcompact SUV from its manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon in Pune. The production milestone comes 5 and a half years after the home-grown automaker introduced the model in 2017. Currently, it’s the top-selling car from Tata and India’s second best-selling SUV. In March 2023, the company sold 14,769 units of the Tata Nexon against 14,315 units in the same month last year.
The Tata Nexon SUV model lineup is available in a total of 65 variants, priced from Rs 7.80 lakh to Rs 14.35 lakh. The petrol variants cost between Rs 7.80 lakh – Rs 13 lakh and the diesel models can be had within the price range of Rs 10 lakh – Rs 14.35 lakh. There are 30 automatic variants, which are offered within the price range of Rs 9.45 lakh – Rs 14.35 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.
Engine setup includes a 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol and a 1.5L, 4-cylinder diesel, making power worth 120PS with 170Nm and 110PS with 260Nm respectively. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard across the model lineup, while a 6-speed AMT is an optional offering.
Soon, the Tata Nexon will receive a significant update in the country. The compact SUV is reported to come with a new, more powerful 1.2L turbo petrol engine that will deliver a peak power of 125bhp. Its torque figure will stand at 225Nm. The latest spy images reveal that the 2023 Tata Nexon facelift will come with the new purple colour seat upholstery and a new two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls.
Features such as a larger 10.25-inch infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch instrument cluster, a 360 degree camera, air purifier, ventilated front seats, and a sunroof will also be on offer. Most of its design changes will be inspired by the Tata Curvv concept that was previewed at the 2023 Auto Expo.
