The much-awaited 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny has finally gone on sale in India. The lifestyle off-roader comes in four variants spread across two trims – Zeta and Alpha, which are priced between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 15.05 lakh respectively. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom, India. Deliveries will begin in the next few days.

The Maruti Jimny has created much hype among buyers and proof of it lies in the fact that it received over 30,000 bookings even before its market arrival. The SUV, which has been designed specially for the Indian market, will be manufactured at the company’s Gurugram facility. The same plant will also serve as production hub for the export markets.

Maruti Suzuki has ditched the new K15C petrol engine for the old 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol motor. The unit produces a peak power of 105bhp and 134Nm of torque. There are two gearbox options – a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. The carmaker says that the 5-door Maruti Jimny returns a fuel efficiency of 16.94kmpl with the manual gearbox and 16.39kmpl with the automatic transmission. The lifestyle off-road SUV from the Indo-Japanese automaker has been boosted with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system with a manual transfer case and low range gearbox with 2WD-high, 4WD-high and 4WD-low modes.
Based on the ladder-frame chassis, the 5-door Jimny has an approach angle of 36 degree, a departure angle of 47 degree and a ramp breakover angle of 24 degree. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV’s ground clearance stands at 210mm and it has a turning radius of 5.7m. What add more to its off-road capabilities are 3-link rigid axle suspension, electric power steering and electronic traction control.
The 5-door Maruti Jimny Alpha trim comes with all bells and whistles including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360 degree camera, climate control, reversing camera, keyless entry, cruise control, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, hill descent control, Isofix child seat mounts, brake limited slip differential, electrically foldable ORVMs, LED headlamps with headlamp washers, etc.
