Force Motors had revealed that it is working on the 5-door Gurkha, which is expected to be launched in 2022. The 5-door Force Gurkha will rival the upcoming 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the Mahindra Thar. Both models will be launched by 2023.
A 5-door variant of the Force Gurkha lifestyle SUV has been spotted testing for the first time. The spotted model was equipped with a snorkel and 3-door like circular headlights, and tailgate mounted spare wheel.
The current 2-door model targets off-road enthusiasts and individual buyers, while the 5-door model will aim at family buyers. The model will ride on longer wheelbase, and will provide more space in both rear seats and the boot. Adding to it, the SUV will also offer off-road capabilities and rugged styling.
The 5-door Force Gurkha is expected to share the same set-up of engine and gearbox combination as the 3-door model. It is powered by a 2.6-litre turbo-diesel engine that churns out 90bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be performed by a 5-speed manual gearbox. Similar to the standard model, it might come with the 4WD (four-wheel drive) and 2WD (two-wheel drive) options along with manual locking differentials controlled via levers on the floor console.
The lifestyle SUV comes with retro-styling, featuring circular headlamps, boxy design, pronounced wheel arches with claddings and 16-inch alloy wheels. It comes equipped with some modern day features such as a new touchscreen infotainment system, new instrument console, a digital MID and new control surfaces for air-con system.
