It’s known to all of us that Force Motors is preparing 5-door version of its popular Gurkha off-road SUV for India. The model was recently caught on camera without any camouflage revealing its design, dimension and feature details. Here, the 5-door Force Gurkha will be positioned against the upcoming 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny and 5-door Mahindra Thar. Both its rivals are slated to launch sometime next year.
Compared to its 3-door version, the LWB Gurkha will have longer wheelbase to accommodate an additional third row seat. It could be around 400mm longer than the existing one. The width could also be increased and the SUV will ride on bigger 255/60-R18 tyres fitted on 18” alloy wheels. The smaller steel wheels could be offered on lower trims.
The 5-door Force Gurkha could be offered in multiple seating configurations – 6-seats, 7-seats and 9-seats. Earlier, its 6-seater version was spotted testing with captain seats in the middle row. Recently, its 9-seater model was caught on camera featuring side facing, double jump seats.
The off-road SUV carries retro-styled circular LED DRLs around the headlamps, pronounced bonnet with mounted indicators, roof mounted carrier, rear washer wiper, boot mounted spare wheel and a snorkel. Its interior layout will be similar to the 3-Door Force Gurkha. If fact, the features will also be carried forward from its younger sibling.
No changes are likely to be made under the hood. The 5-Door Force Gurkha will come with the same 2.6L turbo diesel engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The oil burner will deliver a peak power of 90bhp at 3,200rpm and 250Nm at 1,400rpm. The higher trim will get 4X4 transfer case with high and low range ratios.
In terms of pricing, the Force Gurkha 5-door is likely to be priced around one lakh premium over its younger sibling. The latter is currently available at Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
