4 New Car Launches In September 2021 – MG Astor To Tata Timero

The auto industry has already witnessed several new car launches in the past couple of months. The car manufacturers are preparing to launch a wide range of new cars to lure buyers in the next couple of months. In this article, we talk about the top 4 new cars to be launched in the Indian market in September 2021.

VW Taigun

The long-awaited Volkswagen Taigun mid-sized SUV will be launched in the 3rd week of September 2021. Interested buyers can pre-book the SUV online or via authorised dealerships. It is designed on the MQB AO IN platform, which also underpins the Skoda Kushaq. The SUV shares the engine and gearbox options, body panels and features with the Kushaq; however, both SUVs have different design.

The Volkswagen Taigun will be offered with two engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol. The former is good for 113bhp and 178Nm of torque, while the 1.5L engine produces 147bhp and 250Nm of torque,. A six-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. Other gearbox options include a 6-speed torque convertor automatic with 1.0L engine and a 7-speed DCT automatic with 1.5L engine.

MG Motors will launch a new mid-sized SUV in the month of September 2021. Rumoured to be called the MG Astor, the new SUV is basically the petrol derivative of the ZS EV. The new SUV will debut the brand’s new IT systems enabled by Jio’s IoT solutions, and the new concept of Car as a Platform (CAAP). The SUV will share most of the features with the ZS EV; however, it will have some design changes and upgraded interior. The SUV will have a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a large panoramic sunroof, multi-functional steering wheel, etc.

The new MG Astor will rival the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. It will come with two petrol engine options – a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder NA petrol and a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol. While the naturally-aspirated petrol engine will produce around 120bhp and 150Nm of torque, the turbocharged engine is capable of producing 163bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.

Tata Timero

Tata Motors will launch the production version of the HBX concept in the month of September or October, 2021. Rumoured to be called the Tata Timero, the new micro SUV will be positioned against the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT. The new model will be based on the ALFA modular platform, which also underpins the Altroz hatchback.

The new Tata Timero will share the features with the Tiago and the Altroz hatchback. Some of the features are a 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, a part-digital 7-inch instrument cluster, automatic climate control, multi-functional steering wheel, etc. It is likely to be powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. The vehicle could also get a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo engine with power close to 100bhp. Transmission choices are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

New Maruti Celerio

The long-awaited new-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio is expected to be launched in September 2021. The hatchback has already been revealed via a series of undisguised photos leaked on the web. It will be based on the new HEARTECT lightweight platform, which also underpins the Suzuki S-Presso. The new model will come with all-new interior with features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a multi-functional steering wheel, etc. The hatchback will also get safety features like reverse parking sensors, keyless entry, ABS and EBD and multiple airbags.

The new model will be offered with two engine options – a 67bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder K10 and a 83bhp, 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol. Both 5-speed manual and AMT gearboxes will be carried forward from the existing model.
