2021 will surely be an action-packed year for the Indian automobile industry. While several new car launches have already been planned, there are arrival rumours of some much-anticipated models. Aiming to the strengthen its market, Ford India is reported to bring in four new products including the Ranger Raptor double-cab performance pick-up, Foucs maxi hatchback, Focus ST hot hatch and new-generation Figo hatchback. One must note there is no official word on the same.
The Ford Ranger Raptor pickup is one of the most capable off-roading models in the company’s global product lineup. Built on the ladder frame chassis, the performance-oriented pickup will be offered with a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that’s good enough for 213bhp and 500Nm. It will be matched to a 10-speed automatic gearbox, a Terrain Management system with 6 modes and 4WD drivetrian system. It’s likely to hit Indian roads in the second half of 2021.
The American carmaker might also introduce the Focus and Focus ST in India sometime next year. In international markets, the Focus is being offered with multiple EcoBoost petrol and EcoBlue diesel engines. Here, the model might come with the 125PS, 1.0L, 3-cylinder EcoBoost petrol and 160PS, 2.0L turbo petrol engine options. Powering the Ford Focus ST will be a 2.3L turbo petrol unit that can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The motor has been tuned for making power worth 280PS and 420Nm of torque.
The new-generation Ford Figo will arrive by the end of next year. If reports are to be believed, the hatchback might receive Mahindra’s new 1.2L mStallion turbocharged petrol engine with direct injected technology. The new gasoline unit delivers a peak power of 129bhp and 230Nm of torque. This will make it the most powerful petrol hatchback in the country. Significant changes will also be made inside and outside of the hatchback.
