Ford Motor Company has planned several new models for the Indian market. If reports are to be believed, the American carmaker is considering Ranger Raptor off-road pick-up, Focus hatchback and Focus ST hot hatch. Besides this, the company will give a generation change to the EcoSport subcompact SUV and Figo hatchack. Save for the new EcoSport, all aforementioned new models are likely to hit roads next year. The new 2021 Ford Figo is likely to witness noticeable changes inside and out along with a new set of engine.
According to a fresh media report, the new-generation Figo will come with Mahindra’s new mStallion turbocharged petrol engine that broke cover at the 2020 Auto Expo. The hatchback is likely to receive the 1.2L turbocharged petrol motor benefited with direct injection technology. It will be tuned for producing a top power of 129bhp and 230Nm of peak torque. If it happens, the 2021 Ford Figo petrol will become the India’s most powerful hatchback.
At present, the Figo hatchback comes with three engine options – 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol, 1.5L, 3-cylinder petrol and 1.5L diesel. While the 1.2L gasoline unit makes 96bhp and 120Nm, the 1.5L unit pushes out a peak power of 123bhp and 150Nm of torque. The oil burner dishes out a claimed power of 100bhp and 215Nm of torque. Design and feature details of the new 2021 Ford Figo are still under the wraps. Though, the hatch is likely to come with a completely revised front fascia. There will be a bunch of new comfort goodies and safety features. It’s likely to get a new touchscreen infotainment system supporting both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Currently, the Figo offers multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, hill-start assist, traction control, rear parking sensors and many other safety fitments.
