The midsize SUV segment is getting hotter with the arrival of new models, and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder are the latest members to join the bandwagon. In coming months, there will be more participants from Honda, Kia and Citroen challenging dominance of Hyundai Creta. Here’re some key details of the upcoming compact SUVs.

New Honda Compact SUV
Honda’s all-new midsize SUV will make its global debut on 6th June 2023. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed name and details of the model, it’s likely to be called Honda Elevate. Design and styling of the new Honda SUV will be inspired by the brand’s global SUVs including the new-generation WR-V and HR-V. Measuring around 4.3 metres in length, the model is likely to come with the 1.5L petrol engine and two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The carmaker might introduce the SUV with strong hybrid powertrain at a later stage. Both setups will be sourced from the City sedan. It could be packed with features such as ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech and digital instrument cluster. More details here…
Kia Seltos Facelift
The updated Kia Seltos will receive noticeable changes inside and out along with a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine. The motor pushes out a peak power of 160bhp and 253Nm of torque. The existing 1.5L petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines will also be on offer. Both motors come with a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT, a 6-speed automatic and a CVT gearbox. This time around, the Seltos is likely to come with the ADAS tech along with safety features such as vehicle stability management, hill assist control, 6 airbags, parking sensors and camera and tyre pressure monitoring system. Citroen C3 Aircross
Citroen C3 Aircross recently made its global debut in India and its market launch will happen in the second half of 2023. With 90 percent localization levels, the SUV is expected to be priced competitively. The carmaker will bring in its two versions – 5-seater and 7-seater, offering boot space of 444-litres and 511-litres with the third row folded flat. The C3 Aircross is powered by a 1.2L turbo petrol engine that’s good enough for 110bhp and 190Nm. Initially, it will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Most of its design and features are similar to the C3 hatchback. The new Citroen compact SUV has a wheelbase of 2671mm and 200mm of ground clearance (longer and higher than the Creta).
