3 New SUVs Coming Before Diwali 2021

2021 Diwali season is going to be big and exciting as there will be three major new SUV launches from Tata, Mahindra and MG. Here’re key details of the new SUVs, which are slated to arrive in coming weeks.

MG Astor will be the fourth SUV from the British carmaker in the country. While its official launch date is yet to be revealed, the SUV will go on sale just before Diwali. Though, the automaker has confirmed that the model lineup will come with the segment’s most powerful petrol engines – a 110bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated and a 140bhp, 1.3L turbocharged unit. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual (1.5L petrol only), an 8-speed CVT automatic (1.5L petrol only) and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic (1.3L turbo only). The company has equipped the Astor with some segment-first features including a personal AI (artificial intelligence) assistance system with voice command support, ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), heated ORVMs and more.

Prices of the upcoming new Tata Punch micro SUV will be announced on 20th October 2021. Its bookings have already been commenced at an initial sum of Rs 21,000. The company has revealed that the Punch will be offered in four trims (Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative) and 7 colour options. All variants will derive power from a 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine making power worth 85bhp. The mini SUV can be had with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Based on the HBX concept, the Tata Punch will come with a host of features including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, 7-inch instrument cluster, reverse parking camera, traction pro mode, cruise control and more.

Mahindra & Mahindra has already announced prices of its new XUV700 5/7-seater SUV that comes in two trims – MX and AX. Its deliveries, however, will begin in coming days (i.e. before Diwali 2021). While the 5-seater variants are available within the price range of Rs 11.99 lakh – Rs 17.19 lakh, the 7-seater models cost between Rs 17.59 lakh – Rs 19.79 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The Mahindra XUV700 is the most powerful petrol vehicle in its segment. Its petrol model uses the brand’s new 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo engine that’s good enough for 200bhp and 380Nm. The diesel version comes with the 2.2L, 4-cylinder mHawk turbo motor that makes 155bhp with 360Nm and 185bhp with 420Nm. The SUV offers several segment-first features including ADAS, Skyroof and more.
