3 New Royal Enfield Bikes In the Works – Triumph, Harley Rivals

The middleweight motorcycle segment is becoming more competitive with the introduction of the all-new Harley-Davidson X440 and Triumph Speed 400. What makes these bikes special is that they are the most affordable offerings from their respective manufacturers. The Harley-Davidson X440 is the first model to be launched under the partnership between Hero and Harley, while the Speed 400 is the first product co-developed by Bajaj Auto and Triumph. Both manufacturers aim to challenge the dominance of Royal Enfield, which offers popular models like the Bullet 350, Classic 340, Hunter 350, Meteor 350, and Himalayan 400.

But that’s not all. Royal Enfield is also preparing to strengthen its market with three new motorcycles in the 350cc-450cc range. Reports suggest that the new-generation Royal Enfield Bullet 350 will be launched in early September 2023. This will be followed by the all-new Royal Enfield Himalayan, which is expected to arrive in the next 6-8 weeks (around November 2023). Additionally, the company is working on the Royal Enfield Scram 440, which is likely to hit the roads within the next 12 months.

Speaking of the new-generation RE Bullet 350 (codenamed J1B), the bike will be based on a new platform and will be powered by a 346cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. Significant cosmetic changes are expected, including a new single-piece seat with better lumbar support, chrome treatment around the headlamp, taillamp, and rearview mirrors, a tear-drop fuel tank, wire-spoke wheels, and a single-sided exhaust canister.

As of now, details about the all-new RE Himalayan are not available. Codenamed D4K, the Royal Enfield Scram 440 will use an air/oil-cooled 440cc engine. However, its power and torque figures will be significantly lower than those of the RE Himalayan 450, which is scheduled to be released in the coming months. It is unclear whether the new Scram 440 will replace the Scram 411 or be sold alongside it.
