The Mahindra XUV700, launched in August 2021, became an instant hit and achieved the milestone of 1 lakh sales in less than 20 months, making it the fastest-selling SUV from Mahindra. The XUV700 model lineup currently consists of five variants: MX, AX3, AX5, AX7, and AX7L, available in five color options: Dazzling Silver, Red Range, Midnight Black, Electric Blue, and Everest White. The SUV is offered in two seating configurations: 5-seats and 7-seats.
Recent sightings of a test mule indicate that Mahindra & Mahindra is preparing a 6-seater version of the XUV700. While the official launch timeline has not been announced, a fresh media report suggests that the Mahindra XUV700 6-seater might arrive during this year’s festive season. Apart from the seating layout, no changes are expected to be made to its exterior and interior.
The 6-seater version of the Mahindra XUV700 will continue to be powered by the existing 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines, which offer power outputs of 197bhp/380Nm and 153bhp/182bhp with torque figures of 360Nm/420Nm, respectively.
The 6-seater layout is likely to be reserved for the top-end trim, which means it will come equipped with ADAS tech and features such as 6-way electrically adjustable front seats with memory and retract function, an air purifier, electrically foldable ORVMs, dual-zone climate control, 3D audio with 12 speakers, blind view monitor, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake, telescopic adjustable steering, wireless charging, electric smart door handles, and more.
In addition, Mahindra & Mahindra is also working on an electric version of the XUV700 SUV (XUV.e8) that is scheduled to launch in late 2024. The electric variant will feature EV-specific changes both inside and out, and it is likely to incorporate copper-colored accents on the front grille, fog lamp assembly, and rear profile, similar to what we have seen in the Mahindra XUV400.
