Is MG Planning A New Compact SUV? – Yep Design Patented

MG Motor India has adopted a unique approach with the launch of the Comet EV, a compact two-door premium electric vehicle. It went on sale in April 2023 at an introductory price of Rs 7.98 lakh, with deliveries beginning in the third week of May. A total of 1,184 units of the MG Comet EV were handed over to customers. The company seems to be ready to implement a new strategy with the re-badged Baojun Yep electric subcompact SUV, as it recently patented its design in India.

While MG Motor India has not disclosed its launch plans for the Baojun Yep, rumors suggest that the electric SUV might arrive in 2025. The compact electric SUV, Baojun Yep, has been designed on the Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform, which is also the basis for the Comet EV. Unlike conventional SUVs, it has a more boxy and tall stance.

The Baojun Yep measures 3,381mm in length, 1,685mm in width, and 1,721mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,110mm. Read: MG Plans 4-5 New Cars For India – Mostly EVs
