3 New Hyundai SUVs/MPV Launching In 2022 – Details

India’s second largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, Hyundai has planned a range of new models, which are slated to hit roads in the next couple of years. The automaker is ready to foray into the compact MPV segment early next year to challenge the dominance of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. While the updated Creta and Kona EV are scheduled to launch sometime in 2022, the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 and a small electric car are reported to arrive in 2023 and 2024 respectively. Here’s a brief on the upcoming 3 new Hyundai SUVs and MPV that will see a release in 2022.

Reports suggest that the South Korean carmaker will introduce the Hyundai Stargazer 7-seater MPV in India that recently spotted testing in Indonesia. Designed and developed for the Asian markets, the model is expected to come with the 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engine options. While the former is good enough for 113bhp and 145Nm, the latter makes 113bhp and 250Nm. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The new Hyundai compact MPV is likely to measure around 4.5 meters in length. It’s reported to be packed with the Hyundai SmartSense feature and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system).

Hyundai introduced the second-generation Creta with comprehensive design and feature upgrades in early 2020. Now, the automaker will give it a mid-life update sometime next year. The 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift, which is currently in its testing phase, will share some of its design bits with the fourth-generation Tucson. It will feature Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design language along with a parametric grille, projector headlamp, revised front bumper and fog lamps, new alloy wheels and split taillamps. Rumour has it that the new Creta facelift will come with the ADAS, a 360 degree camera, HUD (head-up unit) and new leather upholstery. No changes will be made under the hood. The updated Creta will continue to come with the 1.5L NA petrol, 1.4L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engine options.

Hyundai Kona Facelift

Hyundai’s first EV for India – the Kona – will receive a mid-life update next year. Similar to the existing model, the new one will be assembled locally from imported kits. The 2022 Hyundai Kona facelift is reported to be offered with two powertrains – a 39.2kWh battery and a 136bhp electric motor and a 64kWh battery and a 204bhp electric motor. It will deliver a range of 305km and 484km respectively. The small capacity version can do 0 to 100kmph in 7.9 seconds and offer a top speed of 167kmph. The long-range model, on the other hand, accelerates 0 to 100kmph in 9.9 seconds and attains a maximum speed of 155kmph. Significant changes will also be made to its exterior and interior.
