Tata Punch Bookings Open; Launch On October 20, 2021

The long-awaited Tata Punch has officially been revealed in the country. Interested buyers can pre-book the SUV online or via authorised Tata dealership at a token amount of Rs 21,000. The company has officially announced that the Punch subcompact SUV will be launched on October 20, 2021. Deliveries will also commence on the same day.

Expected to be priced in the range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8.3 lakh, the new Tata Punch will rival the B-segment hatchbacks and subcompact SUVs including the Maruti Ignis, Mahindra KUV100, Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger. The SUV is offered in 4 trim levels – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative.

The new Tata Punch is available in 7 colours – Orcus White, Daytona Grey, Tropical Mist, Atomic Orange, Meteor Bronze, Tornado Blue and Calypso Red. The Creative trim is offered with dual-tone colour options with Black roof. The base variant is available in Orcus White and Daytona Grey, while the Adventure trim is offered with Orcus White, Daytona Grey, Tropical Misr and Atomic Orange. The Accomplished gets all the colours of Adventure along with Meteor Bronze.

The small UV measures 3,827mm in length, 1945mm in width and 1,615mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,445mm. It will have a ground clearance of 187-litres and a boot space of 366-litres. The top-spec models will ride on 16-inch dual-tone alloys.

It is the second model based on new ALFA modular platform, which also underpins the Altroz. Similar to the sibling hatch, it will offer a 90 degree wide opening doors. In terms of features, the small SUV gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument console, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, connected car tech with 27 features, automatic AC, automatic projector headlamps, rain sensing wipers, etc.

For safety and security, the small SUV offer dual front airbags, ABS with Brake Sway Control, EBD, rear parking sensors and camera, speed alert, etc. The Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that also powers the Tiago twins and the Altroz. This engine produces 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.

The Tata Punch will also come with engine start/stop system, which should improve its efficiency. The AMT model will also come with traction pro mode. The engine has Dyna-Pro technology, which ensures delivery of fresh air to the engine to aid efficient combustion and improved power deivery. It also delivers additional low-end torque for improved performance. It offers two engine drive modes – City and Eco.
