The month of June 2021 is going to witness three new car launches in the country. The list includes two SUVs – Hyundai Alcazar and Skoda Kushaq – and the fourth-generation Skoda Octavia sedan. Here’s a brief on the upcoming new models, which are slated to arrive next month.
Hyundai Alcazar
Hyundai Alcazar 6/7-seater is reported to hit roads sometime next month. Ahead of its official arrival, the unofficial bookings of the SUV have been commenced across the country. It’s essentially the bigger and premium version of the Creta. The carmaker has confirmed that the Alcazar will come with the 2.0L petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines delivering power worth 159PS with 192Nm and 115PS with 250Nm. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Prices of the new Hyundai three-row SUV are likely to start from Rs 13 lakh and go up to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
Skoda Kushaq
The Czech automaker is ready to enter into the mid-size SUV space next month. Called the Skoda Kushaq, the model will face challenge from the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Prices of the model will be announced in June and its deliveries will begin in July 2021. It’s estimated to cost between Rs 9 lakh – Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom). The Kushaq will be the brand’s first model to roll out under Volkswagen Group’s India 2.0 strategy and based on the MQB A0 IN platform. The SUV will be made available with two turbocharged petrol engines – 1.0L, -cylinder (113bhp/175Nm) and 1.5L, 4-cylinder (147bhp/250Nm). There will be three gearboxes on offer – 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque convertor automatic and 7-speed DSG automatic.
New-Gen Skoda Octavia
Skoda Auto will introduce the fourth-generation Skoda Octavia in June 2021. The sedan’s new model is expected to range between Rs 18 lakh – Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2021 Octavia has been designed on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB EVO platform and witnessed noticeable cosmetic changes. Compared to the current generation, the new one is 19mm longer and 15mm wider. Under the hood, the sedan employs a 2.0L TSI turbocharged petrol engine with 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox options.
