The fourth-generation Skoda Octavia is ready to hit Indian roads in June 2021. The information comes from Zac Hollis, Director, Sales and Marketing, Skoda India. The official launch date, however, is yet to be announced. Earlier, the sedan was scheduled to launch in April 2021. Visually, the new-generation model appears different from the outgoing model. In fact, it’s based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB EVO platform and measures 19mm longer and 15mm wider. The same architecture underpins several Volkswagen models. The 2021 Skoda Octavia features a wider front grille, which is set slightly lower and has chrome surround.
The split headlamp setup has been replaced with the conventional single-piece LED units. The sedan’s new model has been assembled with the newly-designed 17-inch Rotare Aero alloy wheels. No other changes have been made to its side profile. The rear section has been revised with angular LED tailgate, split taillamps and a sloping roofline.
The dual-tone interior with a new two-spoke steering wheel with knurled scroll wheels and dashboard with horizontally layered design. A 3-spoke steering wheel comes as an optional offering. The sedan gets a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s compatible to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with the connected car technology with eSIM functionality and Skoda’s Smartlink+. The new Octavia has a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit digital instrument cluster.
The 2021 Skoda Octavia will be offered with a 2.0L TSI turbocharged petrol engine and 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox options. The sedan model lineup will miss out on the 143bhp, 2.0L TDI diesel engine.
After the new Skoda Octavia, the carmaker will introduce the Skoda Kushaq mid-size SUV to challenge the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Price of the vehicle will be announced in June and deliveries will begin in July 2021.
