Marui Suzuki today announced that its Ciaz mid-size sedan has clocked 3 lakh sales mark in the country. With this, the model becomes the quickest vehicle to achieve this sales milestone in the premium sedan segment. Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said that the Maruti Ciaz offers “the class leading space, design and sophistication” and the new sales milestone shows customers’ faith in the brand.
The Maruti Ciaz was launched in 2014 with 89bhp, 1.3L Fiat-sourced diesel and 91bhp, 1.4L petrol engine options. While its diesel model was discontinued in 2020 due to the implementation of the BS6 emission norms, the petrol version gets the BS6-compliant motor with Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid technology. The carmaker had also introduced the new Ciaz S variant to the model lineup.
At present, the sedan comes in four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha – priced from Rs 8.71 lakh to Rs 11.70 lakh. The model lineup includes three automatic variants – Delta AT, Zeta AT and Alpha AT – that cost Rs 10.55 lakh, Rs 11.14 lakh and Rs 11.70 lakh respectively. The manual variants are available within the price range of Rs 8.71 lakh – Rs 10.61 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.
If reports are to be believed, the Indo-Japanese carmaker has prepared the BS6-compliant version of the 1.5L diesel motor. The oil burner will be introduced on the updated Ciaz sedan, XL6 and Ertiga MPVs. The new-generation Maruti Vitara Brezza, which is due for early 2022, will also get the brand’s new diesel engine. The subcompact SUV will witness comprehensive changes in terms of design, features and engine mechanism.
Besides this, the company aims to strengthen its SUV model linup in coming years. It’s reported to develop a mid-size SUV to challenge Hyundai Creta under Suzuki-Toyota JV. The plan also outlines a Baleno-based crossover and a 7-seater SUV.
