25,000 Bookings For All-New Maruti Baleno; CNG Model Planned

Maruti Suzuki India has finally rolled out the updated Baleno premium hatchback in the country. Prices of the new model start from Rs 6.35 lakh and go up to Rs 9.49 lakh (all, ex-showroom). It’s also available under Maruti’s subscription plan starting at Rs 13,999 (including insurance, maintenance, vehicle registration and road side assistance).

The automaker says that the new 2022 Maruti Baleno has received over 25,000 bookings so far. The premium hatchback is currently available with a single 1.2L, 4-cylinder Dualjet K12N petrol engine that’s good for 90bhp.

Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit (instead of the old CVT gearbox). The new AMT model is claimed to deliver fuel economy of 22.94kmpl, while the manual version promises 22.35kmpl.

If reports are to be believed, the Indo-Japanese automaker will introduce CNG version of the new Baleno in coming months. It will be one of the first Nexa cars to come with the factory-fitted CNG kit. It could be offered on the mid-level and higher trims. More details on the new Baleno CNG are likely to be revealed in near future.

Talking about the new 2022 Maruti Baleno, the premium hatchback has a new suspension setup and larger 14-inch front and rear disc brakes. This time around, the model has been packed with lots of advanced goodies including a 360 degree camera (first-in-segment), a 9.0-inch SmartPlay Pro+ free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, voice command support, Amazon Alexa support, ‘Suzuki Connect’ connected car tech, automatic climate control, auto dimming IRVM, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, Arkamys surround sound system, keyless entry and go and many more.

Buyers get six exterior colour options to choose from including Splendid Silver, Nexa Blue, Arctic White, Opulent Red, Grandeur Grey and Luxe Beige. Significant cosmetic changes have also been made to the hatchback. It gets a new, wider front grille with silver accent, newly-designed wraparound headlamps, revised bumpers, LED DRLs with new three-element LED, sharper shoulder line, new 16-inch alloy wheels and new C-shaped LED taillamps.
