Toyota has been receiving positive response from buyers for its new hybrid vehicles including the Innova Hycross and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV. Both models are also available with naturally-aspirated petrol engines; however, the hybrids are more in demand due to higher fuel efficiency. Not just Hycross & Hyryder, the Toyota Vellfire luxury MPV commands a waiting period of around 6 months.
The Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder hybrid currently commands a waiting period of around 20-24 months. On the other hand, the Innova Crysta diesel too attracts a waiting period of up to 3 months. The waiting period depends on the variant, colour, dealership, and other region. The Hycross petrol has a waiting time of up to 4 months, while the Urban Cruiser Hyryder Neo Drive or Petrol commands a waiting period of around 3-4 months.
The Innova Hycross MPV is available in 5 trims – G, GX, VX, ZX and ZXX (O) – priced between Rs 18.55 lakh and Rs 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is based on the Toyota’s TNGA-C platform, which will also underpin the upcoming Corolla Cross 7-seater SUV. It comes with the 2.0L 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine and a 2.0L petrol engine. Coupled with an e-Drive transmission, the strong hybrid unit produces a combined power output of 184bhp. The petrol engine produces 172bhp and 205Nm of torque. It is coupled to a CVT automatic gearbox.
The Urban Cruiser Hyryder comes with Toyota’s 1.5L TNGA Atkinson Cycle strong hybrid & 1.5L K15C mild hybrid powertrain. While the former is good enough for 92bhp and 122Nm, the latter makes 103bhp and 137Nm of torque. Transmission choices include an eCVT with strong hybrid, a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
