2023 Tata Nexon To Get Dual-Clutch Transmission – Key Details

The homegrown UV maker, Tata Motors is preparing to give a major makeover to its existing SUV line-up including the Nexon, Harrier and the Safari. In fact, these models have been spotted testing several times on the Indian roads. The 2023 Tata Nexon facelift will come with significantly revised styling and interior along with a new turbocharged petrol engine. 

The 2023 Tata Nexon compact SUV will receive a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo. This engine will also power the new Curvv SUV Coupe, which will go on sale in 2024. The turbo petrol engine produces 125PS of power and 225Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. The current model is available with an AMT unit. The new model is likely to receive a new dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Tata Altroz DCA

The DCA is currently offered on the Altroz hatchback. The DCA is claimed to be the world’s first to offer planetary transmission. The Tata’s DCA is very compact, which is claimed to have 35% less components than a conventional DCT. It has  1 layshaft unlike the conventional DCT which may have 2 or 3. The gearbox is claimed to have 13 gears with Planetary Gear System instead of the 20 gears in the conventional DCT. The company claims that the new DCA offers better shift quality with lesser moving parts.

The diesel version will be offered with the same 110bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with manual and AMT. The spy images reveal that the 2023 Tata Nexon will share styling cues from the Curvv SUV concept. It will come with all-new front and rear styling. The SUV will come with a new grille and a new split headlamp setup and an LED light bar that runs across the width of the front fascia.

The new model will come with significantly revised interior, featuring a new 2-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. It will come with an all-new digital instrument console and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
