We reported earlier that Kia India could launch the heavily upgraded Seltos SUV in the country in 2023. A possible debut at the 2023 Auto Expo can’t be ignored; however, Kia is yet to make an official announcement on the same. The 2023 Kia Seltos will come with design changes and upgraded cabin along with a new turbo petrol engine.
Previous reports claim that Kia will remove the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine from its line-up. This engine will be replaced by a new 1.5-litre turbocharged engine for the 2023 model year. The 1.4L turbo may not comply with the upcoming Real Driving Emission norms, which will come into effect from April 2023. The new 1.5L turbo petrol engine will offer more power and torque than the current turbo engine. It is likely to produce around 158bhp of power and 260Nm of toruqe. Both 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT gearbox options will be on offer. The SUV will continue to be offered with the existing 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.5L diesel engine.
The report further claims that the 2023 Kia Seltos will also come with radar-based driver assistance systems. The ADAS tech will offer features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, forward collision-avoidance assist, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross traffic collision-avoidance assist, safe exit warning, lane following assist, high beam assist and driver attention warning.
Kia has recently revealed the new Seltos facelift at the 2022 Los Angeles Motor Show. The India-spec model is most likely to share design changes with the global model. It comes with a larger tiger nose grille with full projection LED headlamps, a Star Map signature lighting across the front grille, new bumper, vertically shaped fog lights integrated with DRLs, and LED tail-lights. The 1.5L variants are expected to get LED sequential turn indicators similar to those found in Audi.
The 2023 Kia Seltos will come with a panoramic screen display that combines the 10.25-inch instrument cluster and 10.25-inch center display. The infotainment system will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The new model will come with a new digital driver display, an electronic parking brake and panoramic sunroof.
