Yamaha R15 V4.0 Shapes Up Nicely In A Digital Rendering

Yamaha R15 is one of the most popular motorcycles from the Japanese two-wheeler maker in the country. The model was first launched in 2008 and received two major updates in 2011 and 2018, which were followed by the BS6-compliant iteration in December 2019. Recently, the company increased prices of the Yamaha R15 V3.0 by Rs 2,700. At present, its Dark Knight, Thunder Grey and Racing Blue colour variants are priced at Rs 1.48 lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1.51 lakh respectively.

While the bikemaker hasn’t planned the Yamaha R15 V4.0, a digital rendering previews what it might look like. The rendered model carries more aerodynamic design bits and sportier stance. The new body graphics and decals along with the sharply designed front fairing, integrated LED DRLs and sculpted fuel tank. The dual LED headlamps are carried over from the existing model. The newly-designed alloy wheels, raised tail section and revised exhaust add more to its sportier appearance.

The new Yamaha R15 V4.0 is likely to feature the same 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that’s good enough for 18.6bhp and 14.1Nm of torque. Though, the bikemaker might calibrate the motor to produce more power output. Similar to the global-spec model, the new rendered model features USD front forks suspension units. In India, the bike comes with the conventional telescopic forks unit.

In other updates, the Japanese bikemaker recently unveiled the retro-styled Yamaha XSR 125 motorcycle for the European markets. The bike shares its platform with the R125 and MT-125 and its design language seems inspired from the bigger siblings. The model features a circular LED headlamp, a rounded fuel tank, block pattern tyres, a long seat, exhaust heat shield and rounded taillamps. It has a circular LCD instrument console.

For power, the Yamaha XSR 125 uses a 124cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine sourced from the Yamaha R125. The motor pushes out a peak power of 15hp at 10,000rpm and 11.5Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. Transmission duties are performed by a 6-speed gearbox.
