2022 Toyota Land Cruiser Revealed – More Power, New Suspension

The new Toyota Land Cruiser (300 Series) has finally been revealed via official images by the Japanese automaker. The company says that its new flagship SUV “further reinforcing its credentials for Quality, Durability and Reliability (QDR) together with improved off-road performance and on-road capability”. It’s the brand’s first body-on-frame vehicle to be based on the new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. The 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser comes with two engine options – a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo petrol and 3.3L V6 twin-turbo diesel.

The gasoline motor delivers a massive power of 409bhp and 649.43Nm of torque and the oil burner returns a claimed power of 304bhp and a peak torque of 700Nm. A new 10-speed automatic gearbox is standard across the SUV model lineup. The transmission unit is claimed to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions of around 10% than the predecessor.

Interestingly, the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser features a world-first Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS).  It’s also the brand’s first model to feature a Multi-Terrain Monitor that provides a real-time view of the road surface beneath and immediately surrounding the vehicle and position of the wheels. A few cosmetic changes have been made to the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser.  The brand’s new flagship SUV gets a more prominent grille, new lighting setup, revised tailgate and newly-designed taillamps. Inside, the model gets a large tablet-style infotainment system and a new dashboard layout. Unlike the current model, the new one has third row that can be folded into the floor.

No changes have been made to its dimensions, wheelbase and departure and approach angles. On the safety front the new Land Cruiser gets the second-generation Toyota Safety Sense along with the new parking support brake and pre-collision system.
