Yamaha FZ-X 150cc Bookings Open; Launch Date, Details

Japanese two-wheeler automaker, Yamaha is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited FZ-X 150cc neo-retro styled motorcycle in the Indian market. The Yamaha FZ-X retro motorcycle will go on sale on June 18. Select dealerships have already started accepting pre-bookings for the new motorcycle at a token amount of Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000.

If reports are to be believed, the new bookings will be made against the standard FZ or FZS models. These bookings will be converted into an FZ-X booking once the bike is launched. In fact, dealers are guaranteeing customers one of the first slots in the queue.

The new Yamaha FZ-X will measure 2020mm in length, 785mm in width and 1115mm in height. It will measure around 30mm longer, 4mm wider and 35mm taller than the naked sibling. The new FZ-X will look bigger and have better road presence compared to the naked sibling. It will sit on a 1,330mm long wheelbase.

The Yamaha FZ-X will be powered by a 149cc, air-cooled, SOHC, engine paired to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. This engine produces a peak power of 12.4PS at 7250rpm and 13.3Nm of torque at 5500rpm. It’s the same powertrain that does duty in the Yamaha FZ. Suspension mechanism of the bike will comprise of telescopic front forks and 7-step adjustable monocross rear suspension unit. For braking duties, the bike will get 282mm front disc and 282mm rear disc. The single-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) will be standard.

In terms of styling, the retro-styled motorcycle will feature a conventional teardrop-shaped fuel tank, circular headlamp, boomerang-shaped radiator guard, flat seat, upright handlebars and center-set footpegs. The motorcycle will have relaxed ride posture, which should improve its highway cruising. The Yamaha FZ-X will come equipped with an upswept exhaust and a digital instrument console.
