2022 Skoda Kodiaq Production Starts Ahead of January Launch

Production of the upcoming 2022 Skoda Kodiaq facelift has been commenced at the company’s Aurangabad-based facility in Maharashtra. The automaker says that the SUV has received “a plethora of design and aerodynamic improvements on the outside and in the cabin”. Based on the globally renowned MQB platform, the 7-seater SUV will be offered with a new 2.0L turbo petrol engine. Read – Top Changes of 2022 Skoda Karoq SUV

The diesel engine will be dropped from the model lineup. Its gasoline unit, with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, delivers power worth 190PS and 320Nm of torque. The SUV will be available with the AWD (all-wheel drive) system.

Minimal changes will be made to its interior. The new 2022 Skoda Kodiaq facelift will come with two-spoke steering wheel (as we have seen on the Volkswagen Taigun SUV), new seat designs and electrically adjustable leather ergonomics seats.

Similar to the global model, the India-spec model might get the larger 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of the existing 8-inch unit. Features such as Skoda’s 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, 10 speaker Canton audio system and ambient lighting will be carried forward from the existing model.

2021 Skoda Kodiaq Side Profile

Talking about design and styling, the new Kodiaq will retain the original silhouette and dimensions. Though, noticeable changes will be made the front end. The SUV will feature a newly-designed grille, new LED matrix headlamps, pronounced hood and revised bumper. Save for the new set of alloy wheels, the side profile will remain largely unchanged. At the back, it will sport new taillamps and slightly tweaked bumper.

Skoda has confirmed that the updated Kodiaq SUV will see a release in India in the month of January 2022. This time around, the SUV might also come in SportLine trim featuring elements such as a black front grille, black roof rails, black ORVMs and window trim, black alloy wheels and a black rear spoiler.
