Volkswagen Taigun Sold Out For 2021; Over 18K Bookings

The newly launched Volkswagen Taigun mid-sized SUV has received good response from buyers in the country. The SUV has received over 18,000 bookings since its launch on September 23, 2021. The VW Taigun is receiving close to 250 bookings per day on an average.

It is reported that the company could temporarily stop taking further bookings for the SUV, as the allotted stock for this year has already been exhausted. The VW Taigun is available in 4 trim levels – Comfortline, Highline, Topline and GT – in manual and automatic versions. The SUV is priced between Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 17.50 lakh.

The new Volkswagen Taigun directly rivals the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster and the newly launched MG Astor. The company currently has 150 sales touch points and 119 service facilities across 115 cities.

The new Volkswagen Taigun is offered in 5 exterior colors – Curcuma Yellow, Candy White, Wild Cherry Red, Carbon Steel Grey & Reflex Silver. It is available with two petrol engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol. The 3-cylinder turbo engine is capable of producing 115PS of power at 5,000-5,500rpm and a peak torque of 178Nm at 1,750-4,500rpm. A six-speed manual gearbox is offered as standard. The 1.0L engine also gets a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

Volkswagen Taigun GT Interior

The 1.5L TSI EVO engine churns out a maximum power output of 150PS at 5,000-6,000rpm and a peak torque of 250Nm at 1,600-3,500rpm. It also gets a 7-speed DSG and paddle shifters. The Taigun is based on the MQB AO IN platform that also underpins the Skoda Kushaq mid-sized SUV. In terms of proportions, the new Volkswagen Taigun is 4,221mm long, 1,760mm wide and 1,612mm tall. The SUV rides on segment’s longest wheelbase of 2,651mm. The SUV offers 385-litres of boot space, which can be increased upto 1,405-litres by folding down the rear seats.
