German luxury carmaker, BMW has launched the BMW iX electric SUV in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 1.16 crore (ex-showroom, India). The new electric SUV is available as a completely-built-up unit (CBU) and interested buyers can book BMW iX online or at BMMW dealerships across major metro cities. Deliveries for the new model will begin by April 2022.
The new BMW iX electric SUV is offered in 4 metallic colours – Phytonic Blue, Mineral White, Black Sapphire and Sophisto Grey. It is also optionally offered in BMW Individual Aventurine Red metallic paint finish. Exclusive olive-leaf tanned natural leather upholstery ‘Interior Design Suite’ comes in Castanea color scheme.
Design highlights include a signature BMW kidney grille, narrow BMW headlights, frameless windows, 3-D bonnet, rectangular wheel arches, flared shoulder area and single one-piece rear lights. The vehicle has flat floor that allows BMW to create spacious cabin.
The new BMW iX electric comes equipped with a wide range of features including BMW Curved Glass Display angled towards the driver, hexagonal steering wheel, electrochromic BMW Sky Lounge Panorama Glass Roof, multi-functional seats with integral head restraints and massage function, bespoke leather upholstery, ambient lighting, etc. The SUV offers a luggage capacity of up to 1,750-litres with 40/20/40 split.
The new iX features the BMW eDrive technology with an integrated drive unit within a single housing that is powered by two electric motors (for front and rear axles), single-speed transmission and power electronics. The BMW iX xDrive 40 produces 326bhp of power and 630Nm of torque.
It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 6.1 seconds. ‘My Modes’ switch changes driving character to Personal, Sport or Efficient. BMW IconicSounds Electric creates engaging driving sounds and pedestrian alerts. Using 150kW DC Charger, the battery can be charged up to 80% in just 31 minutes. With 50kW DC Charger and 11kW AC Charger, the SUV achieve 80% and 100% charging status in 73 minutes and 7 hours respectively.
As an introductory offer, the BMW iX will come with a complimentary smart BMW Wallbox charger. It can be integrated at home to enable safe and convenient charging up to 11kW.
