Maruti Suzuki is preparing to give a mild facelift to its best-selling car – WagonR next month, February 2022. Details about the changes are yet to be revealed; however, it is likely to get subtle design changes and interior upgrades.
The outgoing 2022 Maruti WagonR facelift was first launched in 2019, and is already more than 2 years old. It is expected that the new WagonR facelift will get mild cosmetic changes to its exterior. It is likely to get revised bumper and a newly designed 15-inch alloy wheels in the top variant. The company could also add new exterior colour options.
The 2022 Maruti WagonR facelift is expected to receive new upholstery; however, it is not likely to receive any changes to its dashboard design. The vehicle could get hill hold assist with AMT variants and engine idle start stop system. The hatchback will continue to be offered with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
The new Wagon R won’t receive any mechanical changes. It will continue to be offered with two petrol engines – a 1.0-litre and a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder. The smaller capacity unit delivers a claimed power of 68bhp and a maximum torque of 90Nm, and the 1.2L motor promises power worth 83bhp. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. The 1.0L petrol unit offers fuel efficiency of 22.5kmpl and the 1.2L mill offers a mileage of 21.5kmpl.
The Maruti WagonR 1.0L base variant also comes with a CNG option. The outgoing model is available in the price bracket of Rs 5.18 lakh and Rs 6.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new model is not likely to receive any major changes. The new WagonR facelift will rival the likes of the Tata Tiago, Maruti Celerio and Hyundai Santro.
